Event - Uchronicité 2024

It is December. This means the Steampunks (les Vaporistes) of Belgium & the Northern half of France had their annual gathering in a small mining town near Mons: It was Uchronicité!

Uchronicité (2019-2024)

My thoughts: Once I feel less tired.. but know that the cidre was excellent!

UPDATE: I'm still exhausted and running around without stopping, but since I finally managed to finish all stills in this dark hotel room, maybe I should try to gather a few thoughts before succumbing to this coma called Sleep.

▼ Starting with the price that jumped from 5€ in 2022 to 8€ in 2024.. which is still less than other events and there's a free drink included,
△ Drinks.. so much to taste and so much to taste over and over.. but alas not for the BOB (= designated driver),
▼ Missed the groupshot.. got my beard taken care off at that time.. and 4PM in winter with rain & dark clouds is rather late for an outside photo,
△ The food & people are amazing,
△  Zeppelins are the best!
▼ Broken elevator.. which is a huge burden when you're with somebody with bad knees,
△  Dieselpunks are finding their way to this event. Now all we're missing are hellish grimdark costumes based on the TTRPG Trench Crusade,
△ Artisans you don't find on other events in the Benelux.

My brain can't think of anything else at the moment, so I can only hope that you enjoy the stills.

Eventhough many September days in 2024 feel more like November days, on Sunday the 15th it was good to be outside. Outside in the park of castle d'Ursel in Hingene the infamous Geert had gathered yet again a mass of cosplayers & photogs and as always I had hidden my set, this time behind an old wall. No line of sight onto the castle, but perfect for " Cosplayers with natural light " & some " Extreme shoot through ". Why not use the castle as a backdrop, you might ask?  It's a pretty castle, yes. It has one really interesting side, alas it was too crowded to build a set & get a constant, uninterupted view. Event - Geek Village Genk (2024)

A heads-up: on November 17th 2024 we'll be hosting a videobooth on Geek Village ( Thor Central, Genk ) in room 12 ( named Trovao ). It will be the 1st time we put the 360° videobooth on a fair.. so it's somewhere between in between scary & exciting. Japan, het is een wereld die we als Westerlingen nooit zullen vatten. We lezen massaal de manga’s en de hentai. We kijken naar de anime. We worden overweldigd door de films die zich wentelen in extreem geweld, ongrijpbare horror en magistrale, epische schoonheid. Takashi Miike, Hideo Nakata en Akira Kurosawa. Het is een wereld waarvan we enkel het oppervlak kunnen aanraken, het onderhuidse heeft echter iets onbevattelijks voor ons Westerlingen. Body-Art Festival

In een klein dorpje nabij Mechelen verzamelen zich sinds 2000 ieder jaar opnieuw een keur aan bodypaint- en make-upartiesten voor de laatste grote Europese wedstrijd van het jaar: de felbegeerde Body Artist Award. Op 12 november kan het publiek deze levende kunstwerken bewonderen tijdens het ganse scheppingsproces, zichzelf laten grimeren, deelnemen aan workshops en de mooiste bodypaints vastleggen op de gevoelige plaat. Eigenlijk zijn er zo 4 titels om te verdelen: één voor de mooiste airbrush, één voor het beste spons & penseelwerk, één in de categorie special effects en een laatste voor de mooiste festivalfoto. In elke discipline mogen amateurs, studenten en (semi) pro's zich met elkaar meten. Wees er dus tijdig bij, alvorens deze creaties voor altijd verdwijnen onder een warme douche. Collab - Verbeke Foundation cosplay day 2024

A few weeks ahead of the first cosplay shoot day of 2024 in the Verbeke Foundation I had wisely estimated that I would run into & make pictures of 10% of all cosplayers. That was a gross misestimation.. I think it's closer to 5%. Every edition organizer Geert seems to double the number of participants. I still don't know how he manages, but kudos for gathering somewhere around 240 participants. Event - Les fêtes médiévales de Binche (2024)

Let's be really quick and dirty about this event: ▼ There was was an ice-cold wind, but most of the day it was dry, △ Each time the sun showed itself it was wonderful and we all smiled, △ Got a superb medieval cape that really helped against the wind, △ Great food ( including pancakes! ) and too much mead to taste, △ Überfriendly people ( visitors, reenactors, larpers & vendors.. sorry, I didn't run into anyone of the organisation, n or crew ) △ Excellent location: high upon the ramparts of the old city, △ Parked by accident right behind the corner of the event, △ Free parking, free toilets, and a fountain that will be useful during a future hot edition , △ Music by Skayrish , cannon fire, birds of prey, throwing things ( a bad combination with mead ),.. △ A fun afternoon eventhough it was tiny. . .   Let's provide you a few links: ▷ All photos can always be found on/downloaded from my Flickr and here ! ▷ A " How to download stills from Flickr ...

Wijziging in de releasedatum voor Playstation3

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) maakte deze week bekend dat de releasedatum voor de PLAYSTATION® 3 is gewijzigd in Europa, Rusland, het Midden Oosten, Afrika, Australië en Nieuw-Zeeland van 17 november 2006 naar maart 2007. De release data in Japan en Noord-Amerika blijven ongewijzigd, op respectievelijk 11 en 17 november. De verschuiving van de releasedata in de SCEE gebieden wordt veroorzaakt door een vertraging in de productie van de blauwe laser diode binnen de Sony Groep. Hierdoor komt de verkrijgbaarheid van belangrijke onderdelen voor de PLAYSTATION 3 in het gedrang. De eerder aangekondigde wereldwijde verscheping van 6 miljoen PLAYSTATION 3 eenheden voor het eind van het fiscale jaar 2007 blijft ongewijzigd. Van Muis tot Marsman

Dat sommige mensen niet veel nodig hebben om van niets tot iets te komen, bewijst de Canadese George d'Amato in zijn blog. Van een defecte computermuis maakte hij in een wip en een gauw een vervaarlijke tripod die zo uit de film "War of the wolds" lijkt weggelopen.
