Into the universe with Stephen Hawking

Into the universe with Stephen Hawking'.
In oktober zal die bij ons te zien zijn op tv.

Doctor Who - City of the Daleks

Doctor Who: The Adventure Games - episode one details revealed

'City of the Daleks' will be the first time the Doctor ventures to Kaalann, the Dalek capital city; available to download on 5th June 2010

April 22nd 2010: The secrets of the world exclusive trailer which aired at the end of 'Victory of the Daleks' (BBC One, Saturday 6.15pm) can now be revealed, as the BBC unveils the first details of its episodic games which form part of the current series of Doctor Who.

City of the Daleks is the first of four new adventures which take the form of downloadable computer games available for PC and Mac. This first episode will be available for free download from www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho on June 5th 2010.

The TARDIS materializes in 1963 - and London is in ruins. The Daleks have seized control of time and the only chance of saving Earth lies in a desperate quest to Skaro, the Daleks' home planet - before time catches up with Amy, the last survivor of the human race!

Written by Phil Ford (Doctor Who: Dreamland; Sarah Jane Adventures) and executive produced by Steven Moffat, episode one of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games is full of the TV show's celebrated mix of action, peril and humour. Players will help the Doctor and Amy on an epic new adventure in an original story which forms part of the current series, traversing time and space in a dazzling episode.

'City of the Daleks' features the new breed of Daleks which premiered on television in Saturday's 'Victory of the Daleks'. Nicholas Briggs provides the voice of the Daleks, alongside Matt Smith and Karen Gillan who recreate their roles as the Doctor and Amy.

"This is quite a series opener," says Phil Ford, writer, Doctor Who. "We destroy London even before the credits role - so you can only begin to imagine where we travel to from there. City of the Daleks is as big-budget as you can imagine: from London we head to Kaalann, the capital city of the Daleks, one constructed from pure anger and hate. And these new Daleks don't like to be messed with, so players are about to enjoy a new interactive episode which is as heart-pulsing as anything you've seen before."

Doctor Who: The Adventure Games has been produced by a team drawing on the very best talent from TV and gaming. The interactive episodes are executive produced by Steven Moffat, Piers Wenger, Beth Willis and Anwen Aspden (BBC Wales Interactive), alongside Charles Cecil, one of videogaming's most revered creators. The games are being developed by Sumo Digital, one of the UK's best game designers. Stories and scripts are from Phil Ford and James Moran (Severance, Torchwood Children of Earth). The project has been commissioned forBBC Online by the Vision Multiplatform team, headed up by Simon Nelson, and is being driven by BBC Wales Interactive.

Doctor Who: The Adventure Games 'City of the Daleks' will be available to download for free from the Doctor Who website ( www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho) from June 5th 2010, for both PC and Mac users.

Nippon Codes conference @ BIFFF

If you hear every day that globalization is a pandemic sweeping everything away in its path, you might think that the world is just a small village. Well, forget all this crap ! Do you know just one Western country where you have to bend at thirty degrees to salute ? Where you shiver just thinking about sleeping with your head pointing towards the north ? Where the toilet bowl measures your blood pressure and where your blood type is necessary on your CV? Ha ! That’s way more exotic than the carnival in Rio, isn’t it? Therefore, dear gaijins, if you want to learn more about the codes of the land of the rising sun, torn between modernity and ancestral traditions, split between Shintoïsm and karaoke, seppuku and sushi, our “Nippon Codes” conference is just the thing for you !

Plants vs. Zombies HD App for iPad

PopCap Launches Plants vs. Zombies HD App for iPad®

Latest Adaptation Takes App Store Mega-Hit Game to New Heights; Highlights Multi-Touch Capability with New Features and Exclusive Mini-Game

PopCap Games announced its Plants vs. Zombies™ HD app for iPad® is now available on the App Store in North America. Since its introduction on the iPhone™ and iPod® touch in February, Plants vs. Zombies has sold more than 650,000 units. With this latest adaptation, PopCap is propelling the Plants vs. Zombies franchise to new heights – delivering even more great gameplay and exclusive features tuned specifically for iPad.

The Plants vs. Zombies HD app for iPad is available for US$9.99 from the App Store on iPad, or at: www.itunes.com/appstore/.

The iPad is a fantastic platform for gaming, and Plants vs. Zombies HD allows us to show off the great new features and functionality of this exciting device,” said Andrew Stein, director of mobile business development at PopCap. “In this adaptation, we’ve focused on the iPad’s Multi-Touch capabilities and opportunities for new gameplay like the Buttered Popcorn mini-game that will excite both new and current players.”

The Plants vs. Zombies HD app for iPad offers all 50 levels of Adventure and QuickPlay modes as well as Survival mode from the original Apple Macintosh and Windows PC game. It also includes four all-new achievements (for a total of 17) and 18 mini-games, including Buttered Popcorn – exclusive to the iPad – offering frantic and fun gameplay where players attack zombies by first “buttering” them up before firing corn-cob cannons at them. To defeat the growing hordes of zombies, players can touch them to place butter on their heads. With the Multi-Touch user interface, players can select up to eleven zombies at a time, targeted for “buttering” by the powerful cob cannons. The game’s non-stop action is presented in full 1040x768 resolution, delivering stunning visual effects rarely seen in mobile gaming.

Originally launched on the PC and Mac in May of 2009 to universal acclaim, Plants vs. Zombies was introduced for iPhone and iPod touch earlier this year, where it quickly became a global phenomenon. The game reached the #1 position on the App Store Top Grossing charts in more than 20 countries worldwide.

4 additional episodes of Doctor Who revealed as the BBC announces Doctor Who: The Adventure Games

Four additional episodes of Doctor Who revealed as the BBC announces Doctor Who: The Adventure Games, executive produced by Steven Moffat

New, original adventures form part of the new TV series; TV and gaming talent combine to premiere new form of interactive drama

Cardiff, London and Sheffield, April 8th 2010: The Doctor, Amy and some of the show's most iconic monsters will be making a journey from TV to home computers, as the BBC unveils Doctor Who: The Adventure Games - four original 'interactive episodes' which will be made available for free from www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho.

These four new adventures will take the form of downloadable computer games available for PC and Mac, in which players assume control of the Doctor and Amy as they embark on new adventures which complement the new TV series.

Stories and scripts are from Phil Ford (co-writer Doctor Who 'Waters of Mars') and James Moran (Severance, Torchwood Children of Earth). The project has been commissioned for BBC Online by the Vision Multiplatform team, headed up by Simon Nelson, and is being driven by BBC Wales Interactive.

Matt Smith and Karen Gillan have been digitally recreated in-game, and have provided full voice-overs. Music has been provided by TV series' composer Murray Gold. An additional cast will portray original characters and classic enemies.

"Children don't just watch Doctor Who - they join in. They make up games, invent their monsters, create their own stories," says Steven Moffat, Head Writer and Executive Producer, Doctor Who. "Now, there's something else - now they can be the Doctor in brand new episodes."

Doctor Who: The Adventure Games will offer fans of the Doctor a unique opportunity to enter his world, face his challenges and grapple with his deadliest foes.

"By developing these games alongside the new TV series, we've been able to weave exciting narrative strands with the very finest game design to create a new kind of Doctor Who, which can be enjoyed by the whole family."

"There aren't 13 episodes of Doctor Who this year," adds Piers Wenger, Head of Drama, BBC Wales and Executive Producer, Doctor Who. "There are 17 - four of which are interactive. Everything you see and experience within the game is part of the Doctor Who universe: we'll be taking you to places you've only ever dreamed about seeing - including locations impossible to create on television."

Simon Nelson, Head of BBC Multiplatform in Vision, continues: "A few years ago we couldn't have dreamt of commissioning such an innovative form of drama. By integrating the creation of these 'interactive episodes' with the development of the TV series, we've been able to create amazing two-hour dramas in which you control the action. We've all imagined what it would be like to come face-to-face with some of the universe's most terrifying monsters - now viewers can find out for themselves.

"Establishing new forms of drama is exactly what the BBC should be doing. By aiming these 'interactive episodes' at the broad audience of TV show - unique in British television, in that it encompasses at least three generations - we're aiming to encourage the family to gather round the PC or Mac in the same way they do the television. Driving computer literacy is a keystone of the BBC's public service remit and we expect Doctor Who: The Adventure Games to be hugely popular in the homes of Britain this year."

"Only the BBC could produce such an innovative slice of new drama. We're offering two-hour original Doctor Who episodes to production standards on a par with the TV series, working with the very best creatives within the UK. We're hugely proud of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games, which will establish new standards in interactive drama and allow families the country over to enjoy Doctor Who stories in unique and innovative ways."

"Doctor Who: The Adventure Games will offer the chance for Doctor Who fans to visit places they've only dreamed off, facing off against monsters they've previously had to imagine," concludes Anwen Aspden, Executive Producer, BBC Wales Online. "Players will visit places which have never been shown on television - and these will go on to define the look and feel of future TV episodes."

The exact titles of the four episodes are being kept secret for the time being, but the four original stories will take players on a journey throughout time and space, including one location from the Doctor Who series which has never been seen before on screen. Players will encounter new and original monsters, in stories which form part of the overall Doctor Who canon.

The first episode of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games will be available to download for PC and Mac from www.bbc.co.uk/docotorwho in June 2010. Its title will be revealed at a special press event on April 21st 2010.

Moonlight Online (Vampire MMORPG)

IGG Unveils Secrets about the World of Moonlight Online

IGG recently revealed plans to launch its first vampire-themed MMORPG, Moonlight Online, offering unique game features giving players power over world creation and demolition plus characters with superhuman abilities. The few details released so far have left gamers wondering what kind of enigmatic universe they can look forward to exploring. Now it’s time to take a peek behind the veil of secrets as the epic tale of Moonlight Online unfolds.

Having slain the Dark Dragon Nasselgepar, the victorious King Cruz brought peace to the land and founded the Monarchy of Cruz. He formed an alliance with Christiano, the noble lord of the Kalimarov vampires, and Mourinho, the mighty chieftain of the savage werewolves, signing the Peace Treaty of Ansgarde.

This unprecedented time of peace would one day end, after a demonic fourth faction emerged from the depths of hell and brought mayhem to the world. They schemed to fan the flames of hatred and lust, manipulating a romance between a vampire and a werewolf that turned the two races against each other. A massive war broke out between them, and the delicate peace that had lasted eons was thus destroyed by the vile trickery of the demons. Chaos and turmoil spread throughout the land. Even the neutral human race was not spared the horrors of war.

Now that the Great War has ended, vampires, werewolves and humans are left with the daunting task of rebuilding their empires on their war-torn lands. To do so, they must annihilate the dark demons that continue to ravage their homes.

In Moonlight Online, vampires harness elemental energies and possess astounding abilities of speed, equilibrium and power. Beneath their ashen faces and piercing crimson gazes lie mysterious and profound forces. Descended from the purest and most noble bloodlines, vampires are proud and lonely fallen angels of the night.

The natural enemies of vampires, werewolves are fearsome beasts with amazing restorative powers. Their ability to explode into a berserker fury increases their attack power against vampires, fueling gripping PvP battles that feature the colossal clash of claws and fangs.

Not to be taken lightly, humans are powerful beings in their own right. King Cruz received blessings from all the gods for destroying the Dark Dragon, endowing his people with great intelligence and courage. With its many schools of might and magic, the Monarchy of Cruz has raised generations of legendary defenders.

Players will have their choice of any of the three earthly races as they immerse themselves in the moving tales of Moonlight Online. From vampiric hunters that prowl the blackest night to the righteous and fierce guardians of the land, whether they take the role of conqueror or defender, players will harness amazing abilities as they explore the world of Moonlight Online.

Visit http://www.igg.com to learn more about IGG’s growing stable of online games and watch this space for more Moonlight Online news as new details emerge from the shadows.
