Mutant Chronicles: Doomtrooper Online

Paradox Interactive teams up with Paradox Entertainment Inc. to bring ”Mutant Chronicles: Doomtrooper” Online

The Classic Mutant Chronicles Strategy Brand licensed for Paradox Connect

STOCKHOLM – October 20, 2010 – Paradox Interactive today announced it has licensed the Mutant Chronicles: Doomtrooper brand from Paradox Entertainment Inc. Doomtrooper was a classic card-based strategy game from the popular Mutant Chronicles universe franchise and one of the most popular collectible card games of the last century with over 200 million cards sold worldwide.

With the launch of our Paradox Connect initiative, an opportunity to create something great with the Mutant Chronicles: Doomtrooper brand has surfaced and we immediately sought to license it,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive. “It’s exciting to join forces again with Paradox Entertainment to bring a wonderful franchise into the 21st century, online.”

Mutant Chronicles has an incredible fan base that still continues to play games based on this dynamic universe, and Doomtrooper remains one of the favorites. We’re excited that a new generation of gamers now can experience the fun and excitement of the game,” said Fredrik Malmberg, President and CEO of Paradox Entertainment Inc.

Mutant Chronicles takes place in the distant future after the relentless exploitation of Earth by megacorporations has forced mankind to a mass exodus to nearby planets. The survivors, plagued by disease and viruses in the new hostile environments, face yet another threat - the Dark Legion. As you select and lead a squad of highly trained specialists across the solar system, your only goal is the eradication of your enemies and anyone who isn’t your ally.

Additional details on the game will be revealed in the coming months.

Por dios Stripblad

POR DIOS, vanaf 2 november overal in Nederland verkrijgbaar

London gets the Japanese party experience this November!

The new club night in London offers the full Japanese entertainment experience on 17 November with bands, DJs, video games, karaoke, purikura and more from the land of the rising sun!

Japan Underground aims to bring the buzz of Tokyo’s alternative nightlife to England, and will be teaming up with several of the UK’s biggest sources of Japanese entertainment to achieve it.

The opening party, running from 7pm-2am, will be loosely themed on Japan’s massively popular feudal brawler franchise Sengoku Basara. Video game giants Capcom will bring the latest game Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings to the event, while Manga Entertainment will screen the forthcoming anime series on the venue’s cinema. Music from the game and anime will also be DJed throughout the night along with the biggest tunes from Japan’s pop, rock, visual kei, urban and underground scenes, plus remixes from video games such as Street Fighter, Final Fantasy and more.

To further the Japanese party experience, On Board Karaoke will be uprooting from its home in Earls Court and bring its authentic Japanese karaoke experience to the Japan Underground party. Their karaoke machines have over 130,000 songs packed with the latest songs from Japan, including well known anime, video game and TV theme tunes as well as songs from the rest of the world.

And what Japanese party is complete without purikura for a lasting momento! Purikura refers to the photo booths in Japan that allow users to customise the photos with crazy backgrounds, quirky effects and fun text. Photography firm Cosplay Portrait will be offering a purikura-like service as well as professional regular photo shoots using their lights and studio setup. All photos will be printed at the event for instant purchase.

There will also be the live bands 10 (“The zaniest experimental music in Asia” – TimeOut) and Cosmic Shenngy (An ambassador for the Chinese avant-garde” – TIME), and a DJ set from Retro Gamer columnist and Absolute Radio DJ Iain Lee who will be playing a selection of his favourite J-pop songs, as well as a DJ set from Japanese music journalist Tom Smith.

The Disinterred Reich

As it's nearly Hallowe'en, and many of us here in the Warlord Games office are really just big kids (read: pathologically immature), we've combined our plastic Bolt Action German Infantry with Mantic Games' new zombies to create... well... Nazi Zombies. And we thought others might like to do the same.

This set provides you with three Mantic zombie sprues, two Warlord Games German infantry sprues, and a Warlord Games German weapon sprue. Coming from different manufacturers, you'll need to use your brains, braaaaiiiinnnss, delicious, juicy, brains to make sure they go together. As you can see from the pictures, the results are, in the boss's words, horrifying.

You can choose to add a copy of Osprey Publishing's Hunters Guide To Zombies for an extra £10.00 GBP, which contains everything you ever needed to know (and some things that are clearly made up) on the subject of the walking dead.

This set will only be available until the end of the month, so get a lurch on and order soon.

Noble Map Pack for Halo Reach

The Warfront of Reach Expands on Nov. 30 with the Launch of the “Halo: Reach” Noble Map Pack

The entertainment launch of the year is poised to get even better with first downloadable content

On Nov. 30, the first map pack for the biggest game of the year, “Halo: Reach,” launches on Xbox LIVE and at retail locations worldwide. The Noble Map Pack introduces three new explosive environments into the online multiplayer battlefield, each designed to reinforce all of “Halo: Reach’s” vital warfronts, from small scale engagements to massive Invasion battlegrounds.

The blockbuster prequel to the landmark “Halo” trilogy, “Halo: Reach” generated more than $200 million in sales in the first 24 hours in the U.S. and Europe, eclipsing every game, movie and music premiere this year and solidifying its status as the biggest U.S. entertainment launch of 2010. With the release of the Noble Map Pack on Nov. 30, the fight for humanity will continue to rage on a galactic scale, from a frozen xeno-archaeology site harboring centuries old secrets, to an orbital anchor defending the stars high above planet Reach and to mysterious places far, far beyond:

Tempest – “Though we may never fully understand these devices, it is not our nature to leave ancient stones unturned.” This abandoned shoreline facility bends both sea and sky to an unnatural purpose, but the ground itself has quickly become another all too familiar battlefield. Though the two opposing symmetrical bases may never reveal their ancient purpose, both now offer makeshift shelter and access to strategic routes perfectly suited for small and large scale skirmishes alike. Tempest supports 8 – 16 players and offers a variety of modes including Free for All, Team Slayer, Team Objective and Big Team Battle. Tempest also provides players with a huge Forge palette, allowing them to create new custom map variants that can be shared with the community-at-large.
Anchor 9 – “Orbital dockyards provide rapid refueling and repairs for a variety of UNSC vessels.” Within the confines of this low orbit dry-dock, UNSC craft undergo rapid repair and rearmament in support of the enduring war effort. But for the small squads of infantry who now fight over the mirrored interior hallways and open central hangar bay, this platform no longer provides any safe harbor – whether the close quarters combat is occurring inside or out of its artificial gravitational field. Anchor 9 allows 2-8 players to face off in game variants including Free for All, Team Slayer and Team Objective.
Breakpoint – “ONI officials believe the data buried within this artifact is key to our survival.” Atop this icy precipice, the Invasion continues. These modular archaeological labs were never intended to withstand such a large scale onslaught of Covenant military power, but the information being extracted here may prove vital to humanity’s survival. In response to the imminent Covenant threat, UNSC ground and air assets have been deployed to bolster entrenched Spartan countermeasures. This dig site must yield salvation, or it will become a grave. Breakpoint offers multiplayer mayhem for 8-16 players, and supports the Invasion and Big Team Battle game variants.

Developed by award-winning studio Bungie, the Noble Map Pack will include all new Achievements worth a total of 250 Gamerscore and will be available for purchase for 800 Microsoft Points either directly from Xbox LIVE or with a Microsoft Points card sold at retail locations worldwide

Get the Rare Psychic-type Pokémon Mew

RETURN TO THE JOHTO REGION AND DISCOVER THE HIDDEN POKÉMON THAT STARTED IT ALL – MEW

Pokémon and Nintendo Offer Limited Distribution To Celebrate Tenth Anniversary of Pokémon Gold Version and Pokémon Silver Version

BELLEVUE, Wash.—October 12, 2010—It has been 10 years since PokémonTM fans first visited the Johto region in the Pokémon Gold Version and Pokémon Silver Version video games. To commemorate this historic occasion, Pokémon Trainers can get the Rare Psychic-type Pokémon MewTM for the original titles’ remakes, Pokémon HeartGold Version or Pokémon SoulSilver Version, for the Nintendo DSTM family of systems via a Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection distribution event October 15 through October 30, 2010.

At first, it was believed that there were only 150 Pokémon. As #151 in the National Pokédex, Mew was the original secret Pokémon, revealed for the Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version video games. Over the past 12 years, Mew has very rarely been attainable, making this an extraordinary opportunity for Trainers across the nation.

The Mew character you will receive is a Level 5 and comes with one basic Normal-type attack, Pound, giving Pokémon Trainers the ability to raise and train Mew as they see fit. Making this distribution especially exclusive, Mew comes inside a Cherish Ball and has a Premier Ribbon, both indicating that you got it via a special event.

During the limited distribution period, players will need to receive Mew using the Mystery Gift option via the Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection service and their existing wireless broadband Internet access, and will need to acquire the Pokédex in the game. Players must also have fewer than three Wonder Cards in their game.

This historic distribution event is only available for a limited time. For more information, players should visit http://www.pokemon.com/.

Bogbrush the Barbarian

Howard Whitehouse (AKA Mexican Jack Squint ) presents his latest addition to the corpus of Great Literature of the World. It's aimed at 8-12-year-olds, so most of you will probably like it.

Bogbrush the Barbarian is a hugely silly fantasy romp about a muscle-bound barbarian hero so stupid that all the other barbarians notice. It's a lot of fun, with a fake "educational" aspect where I throw in ludicrous quizzes, "Did You Know?" bits, and life advice that any halfway-bright ten-year-old will immediately disregard.

Here's what the official blurb says:

Bogbrush, the grandson of the fabled Bumrash, is a mighty warrior from the frozen north. He is a giant of a lad, with rippling muscles and a powerful sword-arm. He wears chain-mail underwear and a helmet with really big horns. Unfortunately, he's also very stupid. Mistaking-the-family-cow-for-a-monster kind of stupid. With his new-found friends, Sneaky and Diptheria, by his side, Bogbrush is determined to seek his fortune and become the one true king of Scrofula, a city in the south. Along the way, our hero must try to outsmart tricksters, bandits, magicians and tiny ape-men... none of which is easy to do when you're three buckets short of a cartload!

Ask for it at your local bookstore or check your favourite online dealer.

$17.95 USD, American or Canadian money. A handful of silver pieces in the Marketplace of Scrofula.

Matrix Games and Forced March Games (www.forcedmarchgames.com) are pleased to announce the release of a free playable demo as well as the 1.01 comprehensive update for Hannibal: Rome and Carthage in the Second Punic War!

The new free playable demo gives prospective commanders of Hannibal’s mighty army the ability to play through all the tutorials and the first four turns of the campaign. In addition, the full in-game strategy guide is available for perusal along with all the improvements available in the new update. The 1.0.1 tweaks autosaves to take place on every turn and fixes the issues reported since release, including a few rare crashes. Get the demo and the update from the Hannibal downloads page.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “Hannibal: Rome and Carthage is truly a unique game so it makes sense for us to give gamers a chance to try the game out before deciding to pick up their shield and spear and march on Rome. Apart from the polished gameplay and immersive art and sound, the cunning and merciless AI will require your best effort if you want to see Rome in ruins!”

Hannibal: Rome and Carthage in the Second Punic Waris a new and innovative turn-based strategy game that puts you in command of the Carthaginian military during a period of total war over land and sea with the young Roman Republic. With this military juggernaut of the ancient world at your disposal, you will vie for control over Italy, Carthage, Spain and the Mediterranean Sea using a combination of strategic political maneuvering and sheer tactical skill both on land and sea.

Play consists of two layers; the first is a strategic layer where you must prudently steer your forces to the destruction of Rome’s army and the ultimate destruction of the Republic and city itself. At your disposal are a variety of unit types and historical commanders from which to form your armies. On the tactical scale, when meeting the enemy in battle, skilled leadership and a knack for war come into play as you use a simple but engaging battle system to best your opponents. Hannibal features truly unique historically themed artwork in nearly all aspects of the game. This is coupled with loads of high quality, ancient period music to make for an immersive and wholly enjoyable experience!

The update is comprehensive and will bring all previous version of Hannibal to version 1.01. Get the update from the product page.
