It is time to subscribe...

Anima 2012, the International Animation Film Festival, will take place in Brussels,
Belgium, from February 17 to 26, 2012. This 31st edition will present the international
production of animated films, within the international competition for commercials,
music video, short and long feature animation films, as well as retrospectives, exhibitions,
lectures, a series of "pro" encounters (Futuranima) and workshops.
Every year the festival is attracting more than 35.000 people, professionals, journalists,
students as well as a large local audience of children and adults.Deadlines : Entry Forms + DVD for previewing your production(s) = October 15, 2011Film print (in case of selection) = January 27, 2012

Allow me to sum up a few ingredients that make several ( outdoors ) costume events very enjoyable: No rain + casual strolls through a gorgeous location + drinks with nice people + casually making a photo of a splendid or funny or catchy constume + decent food + things to do/see + musical (re)discoveries + some more wine, whisky, or mead. The annual cosplay day at the Verbeke Foundation , one of the strangest ( yet fascinating ) musea in Belgium, had yet again many of those ingredients in its recipe. Collab - The Page 1 Project

Elke week tussen Samhain 2025 en Ostara 2026 werd er van minstens één boek de eerste pagina voorgelezen door een baardige fotograaf en de video daarvan werd op Tiktok ( en soms ook op Instagram ) gepost. Dit was een oefening om me te leren om mijn eigen stem terug te aanvaarden na een halve eeuw van trauma.  Nee, het trauma is uiteraard niet overwonnen, maar het heeft nu zijn plaats gekregen in de grote rugzak en dat is minstens even belangrijk.         Dit waren de 27 gekozen boeken: ▶️01. Event - Manga & Cosplay festival 2022

Let's start with the links first and then some random thoughts? There will be several sample images added to this post as the processing advances. It was during a warm November month in the Osaka -region that I finally started appreciating Autumn and the warmth of it's colours .  This year the extreme drought is giving September the first hint of those same colours. A perfect opportunity to visit the famous Japanese garden of Hasselt and reminisce about those days in Nara with the deer strolling through the parks and streets.. except in Hasselt it weren't deer posing for the cameras but cosplayers.  Yes; this was my weekend number 5 in a row with a costume event. 213 Tenten. 615 Reënactors waarvan 297 krijgers. Een gevechtszone van 10040m². 48 Compagnieën uit Vlaanderen, Wallonië, Duitsland, Frankijk, Nederland, Oostenrijk, Zwitserland, Tjechië en Polen. Reënactorscompagnieën met ronkende namen als Arma Georgii , De Ijzeren Roos , Compagnie d'Ordonance , Fer de Lance , Gruuthuse Huishouden , Huurlingen van Voorne , La Confrérie des Brumes , La horde du Loup Blanc , De Gentsche Ghesellen , Les Chevaliers au Lion , Condottieri Mauriziani , ... Een tentenkamp vol leven, een markt vol handelaars en dieven, Middeleeuwse wapentrainingen, een overval op een konvooi en een volledig verbod op niet-gekostumeerde toeschouwers. F antasy A nime C omics T oys S pace Wie had kunnen verwachten dat dit eenvoudige letterwoord dat in 1993 welgeteld 40 bezoekers lokte naar een miniconventie boven een Gents café over de jaren zou uitgroeien tot het grootste evenement van de Benelux in zijn soort? En toch zakken de fans van Manga, Star Trek, LoTR, Star Wars, Aliens & Stargate vanuit de ganse Benelux, Frankrijk, Duitsland en de UK jaarlijks naar Gent af. Met meer dan 7000 waren ze in 2007. Geen genrefan die eens op FACTS is geweest wil het daarna nog missen. De fanclubs hebben er een sport van gemaakt om steeds indrukwekkendere props, decors, kostuums en shows op het publiek los te laten. Net zoals het bezoekersaantal groeide, zag de organisatie tevens het aantal handelaars op de conventie in zulke mate stijgen dat dit jaar een extra ICC-verdieping wordt aangeslagen. Collab - Animating the Imperial Guard (The AI dilemma)

Last Thursday the tiny dirt road I needed to take was blocked by a concrete barricade. I cursed ( several times ) and then I thought: " That's actually a cool barricade for a Warhammer 40k shoot. " So I got out of the car, took a picture and had an even worse idea. It took 2 old urbex pictures from back in 2016 and the new concrete slab cellphone photo plus some Photoshop compositing magic to let Firefly AI finalize this composition into the kind of Space Hulk tunnel I wanted. Then I combined 2 stills from @Kyden_cosplay 's props + Cadian commissar cosplay ( made during @GeekVillagebelgium + @GeeksandFreaksnl ) and noticed I had not photographed his legs, so I added the lower part from a macrophoto of a commissar-miniature I had shot during Trolls-et-Légendes ( Sorry, don't know who painted it ). The magic of Photoshop, Luminar Neo and Firefly got me the character and heroic pose I wanted. Then I had Photoshop combine, relight & harmonize both comp...

Event - Carnavalstoet Tongeren (2026)

Carnaval in Tongeren valt precies altijd samen met dat in Aalst , het grootste carnavalsfeest van het land, en beide vallen ( de afgelopen jaren ) erg vroeg in het carnavalsseizoen.. zodoende dan kan het al eens gebeuren dat er februarisneeuw valt Voor mij was dit echter de 1e sneeuweditie . Sneeuweditie is misschien een groot woord, de echte sneeuwval begon pas tegen dat de laatste paar praalwagens mijn plekje hadden bereikt, maar voor wie ( vee l) verder op het parkoers stond, zal een een groot deel van de stoet tussen de witte vlokken zijn verlopen. In Nederlands Limburg werden stoeten ingekort, stortten feesttenten in en reden praalwagens zich vast in de sneeuw, maar zo'n vaart liep het hier niet.  Al zijn koude en kans op een gevaarlijk glad, ondergesneeuwd wegdek niet de beste vrienden van lang blijven hangen en flink doorzakken . Dat kan de na-feestvreugde wat temperen, maar de stoet was mooi, de mensen waren vrolijk, de wind was ijskoud, en de drank had geen extra k...
