Uniformology is very pleased to announce that QUEEN VICTORIA'S SOLDIERS & SAILORS 1848-1885 by Philip Katcher has now been published.
The 96-page, 8" x 10" volume uses nearly 150 previously-unpublished cartes-de-visite to chronicle the uniforms of the British Armed Services in the middle of the reign of Queen Victoria. Staff, Cavalry, Artillery, Engineers, Infantry and Volunteers - as well as the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Canadian troops - are covered. In addition, there are some interesting portrayals of some police and fireman's uniforms. The book also includes 21 rare full-color illustrations by P.W. Reynolds, Orlando Norie and others

It was during a warm November month in the Osaka -region that I finally started appreciating Autumn and the warmth of it's colours .  This year the extreme drought is giving September the first hint of those same colours. Cleopatra and Mark Antony were immortalised as two of history's greatest lovers, but their final resting place has always been a mystery. Now archaeologists in Egypt are about to start excavating a site that they believe could conceal their tombs. Zahi Hawass, director of Egypt's Superior Council for Antiquities, said yesterday that there was evidence to suggest that Cleopatra and Mark Antony were buried together in the complex tunnel system underlying the Tabusiris Magna temple, 17 miles from the city of Alexandria. The dig, which begins next week, could reveal answers to the many myths surrounding the pair -- including speculation about the Queen's reputed beauty and the couple's suicide. Teams from Egypt and the Dominican Republic will begin excavating three sites along the tunnels in the hope that one of the deep shafts will lead to a burial chamber. How do you create this feeling and what sort of techniques are used to provoke this sense of mystery? The story-telling in THEY doesn’t influence the fast paced action of a FPS game – it has dynamic battles, a living environment and those bad creatures you have to kill. But the story has some issues common with plots of mystery movies! Collab - Animating the Imperial Guard (The AI dilemma)

Last Thursday the tiny dirt road I needed to take was blocked by a concrete barricade. I cursed ( several times ) and then I thought: " That's actually a cool barricade for a Warhammer 40k shoot. " So I got out of the car, took a picture and had an even worse idea. It took 2 old urbex pictures from back in 2016 and the new concrete slab cellphone photo plus some Photoshop compositing magic to let Firefly AI finalize this composition into the kind of Space Hulk tunnel I wanted. Then I combined 2 stills from @Kyden_cosplay 's props + Cadian commissar cosplay ( made during @GeekVillagebelgium + @GeeksandFreaksnl ) and noticed I had not photographed his legs, so I added the lower part from a macrophoto of a commissar-miniature I had shot during Trolls-et-Légendes ( Sorry, don't know who painted it ). Okay-okay . It might be a last minute announcement, but #theRed360 will be present at Geeks & Freaks II in Maastricht (31st of January + 1st of Februay) And YES, a spin on #theRED360 of Deep Red Noise vzw will be FREE/GRATIS/GRATUIT  thanks to the fair organizers. So come visit our tiny corner of the MECC in Maastricht, and if the booth has enough room, I - Red Cathedral - might even make some cosplay portraits again. If you can & want to donate 1€ for your 360°-spin, that money will be used to help local stray cats.
