Event - Trolls et Légendes (2025)
This is a placeholder for some thoughts about Trolls et Légendes once I'm less tired, but in short: there was fine whisky, good music, hydromiel, delicious costumes, good laughs and nice people.
Yes it is funny & heartwarming how many visitors from other events like Uchronicité, or the masked ball in Alden Biesen say hello during Trolls et Légendes.
When you see many cosplayers not face the camera in my stills, it might be hard -for some- to believe that all of those shots were posed. I always try to have some sort of contact with the cosplayer before taking the shot (except for example the still named "The initiation", because they were doing their act for the crowd.)
Let's give you some useful links before you scroll down to the gallery:

While you wait, you can take a look at some stills from previous years:
The better & the worse:
▼ Stupid old me should have gotten an autograph, or drawing from sir Ian Livingstone (one of the founding fathers of Games Workshop), illustrator Paul Bonner (loved his old Warhammer 40k art and just before T&L he stunned me with art for Trench Crusade) and grimdark fantasy star-author Joe Abercrombie. Speaking about missed opportunities!
△ Made someone very happy by cueing for actors Graham McTavish & Paul Mensah. Two polite and friendly actors.. surrounded by ultrafriendly crewmembers.
△ The crew (& public) were very helpful for the visitors in a wheelchair. Bonus: Getting all cables hidden was top.
▼ The lower half of the outside part, with those half-open stones, was however hellish to get through with a wheelchair.
△ Found a stall with booze from small brewers (good whisky!)
▼ Maybe it was just an impression, but did I really spot a few Temu/Ali-style vendors? I hope I'm mistaken. Renaissance fairs are normally so great because of all the small creators & indie publishers you discover. A nice bonus would be a few English, German & Dutch books/novels/comics since more and more non-French speaking visitors are discovering T&L.
△ The music is always fun! Skayrish is always a blast.
▼ The new set-up for artwork in the hallway is more space-efficient (meaning more room to spand).. alas less room for art.
▼ The toilet waiting lines (the pipi must be due to the litres of beer most consume)
△ The quality of wargaming/roleplaying miniatures, the integration of videogames, the opportunity to test new boardgames with a drink.
