GAMEFORGE TO SPONSOR APPARTAWARD
Online Games Publisher to Sponsor Award in the Category of Artworks in App Format of the ZKM| Centre for Art and Media Technology

Gameforge, one of the world's leading online game providers, will be sponsoring the AppArtAward in the Game Art category of the ZKM | Centre for Art and Media Technology (Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe). After its successful launch last year, the internationally renowned research and exhibition institute will be awarding the international prize for artworks in app format for a second time on July 13, 2012. The award in the Game Art category rewards innovative, critical and subversive computer game applications for smartphones and tablet-PCs made by independent developers using the medium for artistic expression.
The Special Prize for Game Art, valued at €10,000, will be sponsored by Gameforge. With its commitment to the cause, the Karlsruhe based publisher is contributing to the creative, cultural and economical potential of mobile games. As a member of the panel of renowned judges, chaired by ZKM board member Peter Weibel, Gameforge Product Director Andre Potgeber will be taking an active part in the review and evaluation of submitted entries.

"By sponsoring the Game Art category of the ZKM AppArtAward, we aim to support and promote independent developers of creative gaming apps," said Alexander Rösner, CEO of Gameforge, regarding the company's involvement.
The ZKM's call for entries is aimed at participants from all over the world. Developers interested in applying can send their submissions to the ZKM starting March 12, 2012, with the deadline for entries being May 11, 2012. Alongside the Prize for Game Art, the AppArtAward will be awarding prizes in two other new categories with respect to current developments within new media. The Prize for Artistic Innovation encompasses all innovative app developments that take advantage of the artistic freedom of the medium. The Special Prize for Cloud Art addresses all developers that implement the possibilities of cloud computing technology in a creative and artistic manner.

Collab - Verbeke Foundation cosplay day 2024

A few weeks ahead of the first cosplay shoot day of 2024 in the Verbeke Foundation I had wisely estimated that I would run into & make pictures of 10% of all cosplayers. That was a gross misestimation.. I think it's closer to 5%. Every edition organizer Geert seems to double the number of participants. I still don't know how he manages, but kudos for gathering somewhere around 240 participants. Event - Elftopia 2021

The 1st costume event in.. nearly 2 years? You can't believe the ecstasy of opening those tickets in the mail, getting that CovidSafePass in time and hearing that it would not get cancelled as feared ( unlike Castlefest ). Preparing the cameras. Getting ideas for shots. Actually smiling. Thank you Elftopia . However there was a little hick-up. I could blame it on traffic jams making us arrive extremely late.. but it wasn't that. It was exactly as feared and predicted in this post : I didn't dare to make photos. Have I gotten scared of walking up to people for a picture? Have I lost so much self-confidence? Did I stop trusting my technical instincts? Did I start doubting my gear? Haven't I talked to live strangers for that long? Is this what people call a panic attack or anxiety? I guess a bit of all of those. Meade helped a bit. Japan, het is een wereld die we als Westerlingen nooit zullen vatten. We lezen massaal de manga’s en de hentai. We kijken naar de anime. We worden overweldigd door de films die zich wentelen in extreem geweld, ongrijpbare horror en magistrale, epische schoonheid. Takashi Miike, Hideo Nakata en Akira Kurosawa. Event - Internationale carnavalsstoet Hasselt

Yes, I know: I had promised to cover only one carnaval's parade per year. But I have a great excuse: a brandnew camera fell into my lap to experiment with and I needed an event for testing. So no, it was neither the free booze, nor the happy people, nor the smoutebollen that lured me to Hasselt.. those are simply perks of working . Just to be clear: that Sony A9III is a magnificent camera with crazy specs. I will probably consider buying the 2nd or 3rd generation of its Global Shutter sensor technology, but for now it's great but not needed for what I shoot. Sports and wildlife shooters are the intended targets and they'll enjoy it greatly.  Hasselt carnaval has a very enjoyable parade wth several international participants & loads of confetti. The 2024 parcours had some very long, straight streets.. perfect to test a huge 300mm f2.8-lens. Thes most excillerating was however something tiny & strictly personal: I really felt good that day and jumped right

Body-Art Festival

In een klein dorpje nabij Mechelen verzamelen zich sinds 2000 ieder jaar opnieuw een keur aan bodypaint- en make-upartiesten voor de laatste grote Europese wedstrijd van het jaar: de felbegeerde Body Artist Award. Op 12 november kan het publiek deze levende kunstwerken bewonderen tijdens het ganse scheppingsproces, zichzelf laten grimeren, deelnemen aan workshops en de mooiste bodypaints vastleggen op de gevoelige plaat. Eigenlijk zijn er zo 4 titels om te verdelen: één voor de mooiste airbrush, één voor het beste spons & penseelwerk, één in de categorie special effects en een laatste voor de mooiste festivalfoto. In elke discipline mogen amateurs, studenten en (semi) pro's zich met elkaar meten. Wees er dus tijdig bij, alvorens deze creaties voor altijd verdwijnen onder een warme douche.
