The Crocodile emperor



It is our great honor to announce the arrival of his esteemed highness, the Emperor of 3D Gaming, Emperor Augustus FitzPatricus. Easily displeased by acts of folly, failed "Rout Saves", and fumbled "To-hit" rolls, countless gladiator miniatures have been sent to their doom by the heartless waggle of his thumb.
This miniature was sculpted by Chris FitzPatrick way back in 2001, as a part of the first Visions in Putty sculpting project, hosted by the 1listsculpting forum. The theme was gladiators, as the movie bearing that same name had just been released in theaters and was fresh in everyone's minds. A few dozen sculptors, both amateur and professional, conspired to each sculpt a miniature on this theme and on the final date all the miniatures were revealed and the artists discussed the details of how they made their creation.
Chris FitzPatrick (being the ham that he is) sculpted his miniature as a self-portrait in the guise of the Emperor of Rome, declaring death for all other entries!

1477 was een belangrijk jaar voor België en de Bourgondische Nederlanden. Na de dood van hertog Karel de Stoute, ook bekend als  Charles Le Téméraire,  in de slag bij Nancy, erfde zijn dochter Maria van Bourgondië het hertogdom. Dit leidde tot de Bourgondische Successieoorlog, een conflict tussen Frankrijk en het Huis Habsburg om de verdeling van de Bourgondische erflanden. En precies in deze context speelt zicht het grote kampement van de Quaeye Werelt af, inclusief een veldslag tussen de Bourgondische troepen en Antwerpse opstandelingen. Event - Casanova Danst in Alden Biesen

Ook in 2025 organiseerde de Landcommanderij Alden Biesen een gemaskerd bal. Ditmaal stond de Soirée Masquée helemaal in het teken van Giacomo Casanova en de Rococo . Denk aan krullende pruiken, kniekousen, baljurken die bigger than life zijn en al die aandacht voor details waar de adel uit 1750 voor bekend stond. En geloof me vrij: sommige kostuums en looks waren adembenemend. Event - Elftopia 2021

The 1st costume event in.. nearly 2 years? You can't believe the ecstasy of opening those tickets in the mail, getting that CovidSafePass in time and hearing that it would not get cancelled as feared ( unlike Castlefest ). Preparing the cameras. Getting ideas for shots. Actually smiling. Thank you Elftopia . However there was a little hick-up. I could blame it on traffic jams making us arrive extremely late.. but it wasn't that. It was exactly as feared and predicted in this post : I didn't dare to make photos. Have I gotten scared of walking up to people for a picture? Have I lost so much self-confidence? Did I stop trusting my technical instincts? Did I start doubting my gear? Haven't I talked to live strangers for that long? Is this what people call a panic attack or anxiety? I guess a bit of all of those. Meade helped a bit. Japanimation Day

Op paasmaandag 9 april zal Aztek-TV aanwezig zijn op de manga market van Japanimation Day in het kader van het 25e Bifff (Tour & Taxis, Brussel). We zullen er niet enkel de aanwezige cosplayers op foto zetten, maar brengen hele getalenteerde kunstenaars mee die hun doujinshi-kunsten zullen botvieren. Ore-Sama zal uiteraard van de partij zijn, maar we hopen eveneens jonge talenten zoals Rogue-Chan, Nayoh, Lisu-Chan, Mikie en [M]ortal [K]ombat te mogen verwelkomen zodat ze jullie met hun art kunnen overweldigen. Hun prachtige inzendingen voor de Aztek-TV tekenwedstrijd zijn nog steeds te bewonderen in de galerij. Star Wars Exhibition Brussel

STARS WARS, THE EXHIBITION stelt meer dan 280 originele voorwerpen, kostuums, decorstukken, tekeningen, ruimteveren en maquettes die speciaal geselecteerd werden uit Lucasfilm Archives in Noord-Californië tentoon. Vanaf het ogenblik dat de bezoeker de tentoonstellingsruimte betreedt, wordt hij ondergedompeld in het universum van STAR WARS. De tentoonstelling geeft de bezoeker een unieke kans om een kijkje te nemen achter de schermen. Event - Vapeur et Contes de Fées III (2025)

On the highway to Tournai we witnessed a scene from a nightmare: a brave mother duck guided a flock of tiny, fluffy ducklings onto the highway, clearly wanting to cross while cars thundered past at +120kms/h. Nothing, no screeching monster, no hungry Orc, no demon from the fiery realms, could frighten us more than the fear of that mother duck pressing on, instead of leading her ducklings back to safety. " Why drive to Tournai, the complete other side of the country, " you ask? Because it was the 3rd edition of a humble renaissance fair who's 1st edition dates back to 2017.. and there were Orcs, monsters and demons.. Event - Carnevale di Venezia in Bruges

Every February Bruges may officially name itself The Venice of the North for another reason than the Reien (= city canals ) & the bowbridges who vaguely resemble the sinking Italian city-state. For one day the masked elegance of the carnaval parade takes over the streets. Not a carnaval like it is usually celebrated in the Lowlands, but a Venetian style citywalk. Is it pretty to behold? Absolutely. On top of that, this year the weather changed into a bright sunny weekend after 14 months of gloom & rain. Even better! Still this might have been my last visit to the event because it has become simply too crowded with dozens of photographers, entire photoclubs & a tenfold thereof in pushy cellphonographers. So I shot only a few stills, am - as usual - only satisfied by a handful - but that's typically me - and had that crazy Geert not stopped me, I would have walked away after only 1/3rd of those shots.
