Anime for Sengoku Basara (Devil Kings) confirmed for 2009



The game developer CAPCOM has confirmed at Tokyo Game Show 2008 and on its website on Thursday that its Sengoku Basara (Devil Kings) action-adventure game franchise is getting adapted into a 2009 television anime series by Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell, The Sky Crawlers). Hiroyuki Kobayashi, the games' supervisor at CAPCOM, developed an original scenario treatment specifically for the anime.

Itsuro Kawasaki (Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE The Movie: Princess of the Birdcage Kingdom, Yumedamaya Kidan) is directing the anime, and Yasuyuki Muto (Persona -trinity soul-, Basilisk) is supervising the scripts. Tooru Ookubo (Blood+, Seirei no Moribito) serves as both the character designer and chief animation director. Kazuya Nakai, Souichiro Hoshi, and Norio Wakamoto will reprise their game roles as the Warring States Period figures Date Masamune, Sanada Yukimura, and Oda Nobunaga, respectively.

Event - De Quaeye Werelt (2026)

Lang geleden dat er nog een publiek genre-evenement werd gedaan.  Ben druk bezig geweest aan nieuwe webpagina's voor Deep Red Noise vzw en Red Cathedral en tegelijk volop plannen aan het uitwerken voor een niche winkelproject genaamd House of the Red Merlin . Wat voor soort winkel zou dat kunnen worden? Wel, als er zich nog investeerders aanbieden om de laatste 10% van het oprichtingsbedrag ( stock is helaas duurder geworden in alle branche s) aan te vullen, dan zou het er snel kunnen komen. Toch even het hoofd buiten gestoken - tussen de regenbuien door - voor een reënactors kampement dat me al jaren nauw aan het hart ligt: De Quaeye Werelt 1477 in het Antwerpse Rivierenhof. 1477 was een belangrijk jaar voor België en de Bourgondische Nederlanden. It was during a warm November month in the Osaka -region that I finally started appreciating Autumn and the warmth of it's colours .  This year the extreme drought is giving September the first hint of those same colours. A perfect opportunity to visit the famous Japanese garden of Hasselt and reminisce about those days in Nara with the deer strolling through the parks and streets.. except in Hasselt it weren't deer posing for the cameras but cosplayers.  Yes; this was my weekend number 5 in a row with a costume event. Event - Fantasyfest Rijswijk (2026)

Let me be clear about something: Fantasy Fest is a fantasy themed indoor market featuring some amazing concerts. And the concerts were exactely the reason for travelling on a Saturday to Rijswijk:  Kelten Zonder Grenzen at the opening and Ye Banished Privateers after closing. Just perfect! Obviously there was time in between for a grand tour to visit the neverending rows of stalls ( saying hi to vendors & artists! ), for some mead & for a break to play a TTRPG-demo at Dutch20 . Roleplaying as cats was a nice experience thanks to the DM. Photographing cosplayers? Nah , only a handful. Once you've been there, you know about the lighting situation in De Broodfabriek, eventhough the lights on the stalls are a pretty sight, the rest is Deep Darkness . Collab - Verbeke Cosplay Day (2026)

Allow me to sum up a few ingredients that make several ( outdoors ) costume events very enjoyable: No rain + casual strolls through a gorgeous location + drinks with nice people + casually making a photo of a splendid or funny or catchy constume + decent food + things to do/see + musical (re)discoveries + some more wine, whisky, or mead. The annual cosplay day at the Verbeke Foundation , one of the strangest ( yet fascinating ) musea in Belgium, had yet again many of those ingredients in its recipe. The life & death of costumes

Veel mensen lijden een grijs bestaan. Ze zijn kleurloos, onopvallend en komen nooit dichter bij het beleven van hun fantasie dan onderuitgezakt met een zak chips naar Temptation Island staren. Er bestaan echter ook groepen mensen die proberen te ontsnappen aan die alledaagse grijsheid van het bestaan en die de kleuren, actie en Schwung van het fantasiebestaan proberen te integreren in de " echte " wereld. Dit zijn de mensen die je soms in kostuums kan zien rondlopen tijdens reënactment, larp en cosplay. Het begint meer en meer een trend te worden, ook in ons eigen Belgenland. Event - Casanova Danst in Alden Biesen

Ook in 2025 organiseerde de Landcommanderij Alden Biesen een gemaskerd bal. Ditmaal stond de Soirée Masquée helemaal in het teken van Giacomo Casanova en de Rococo . Denk aan krullende pruiken, kniekousen, baljurken die bigger than life zijn en al die aandacht voor details waar de adel uit 1750 voor bekend stond. En geloof me vrij: sommige kostuums en looks waren adembenemend. MCM Expo London (25-26 oktober 2008)

Na België, Nederland, Frankrijk en Duitsland trekt Aztek-TV nu ook naar the UK voor een genreconventie... en wat voor één. We hebben gelukkig wel al een idee wat ons te wachten staat na de beelden van de mei-editie . Maar het zal nu nog groter zijn aangezien het is samengegaan met het London Games Festival ...
