Confrontation - Executioners


Executioners are monks who lead a double life: scholars by day, assassins by night. This army corps, created by the Empire, is the final resort of Akkylannian diplomacy.

All Executioners are orphans, trained from childhood by scholars and repentant criminals connected to the Emperor. Each dignitary of the Empire is accompanied by one of them - and when the need arises, they join the templars in battle!

Allow me to sum up a few ingredients that make several ( outdoors ) costume events very enjoyable: No rain + casual strolls through a gorgeous location + drinks with nice people + casually making a photo of a splendid or funny or catchy constume + decent food + things to do/see + musical (re)discoveries + some more wine, whisky, or mead. The annual cosplay day at the Verbeke Foundation , one of the strangest ( yet fascinating ) musea in Belgium, had yet again many of those ingredients in its recipe. Event - Manga & Cosplay festival 2022

Let's start with the links first and then some random thoughts? There will be several sample images added to this post as the processing advances. It was during a warm November month in the Osaka -region that I finally started appreciating Autumn and the warmth of it's colours .  This year the extreme drought is giving September the first hint of those same colours. A perfect opportunity to visit the famous Japanese garden of Hasselt and reminisce about those days in Nara with the deer strolling through the parks and streets.. except in Hasselt it weren't deer posing for the cameras but cosplayers.  Yes; this was my weekend number 5 in a row with a costume event. Event - De Quaeye Werelt (2026)

Lang geleden dat er nog een publiek genre-evenement werd gedaan.  Ben druk bezig geweest aan nieuwe webpagina's voor Deep Red Noise vzw en Red Cathedral en tegelijk volop plannen aan het uitwerken voor een niche winkelproject genaamd House of the Red Merlin . Wat voor soort winkel zou dat kunnen worden? Wel, als er zich nog investeerders aanbieden om de laatste 10% van het oprichtingsbedrag ( stock is helaas duurder geworden in alle branche s) aan te vullen, dan zou het er snel kunnen komen. Toch even het hoofd buiten gestoken - tussen de regenbuien door - voor een reënactors kampement dat me al jaren nauw aan het hart ligt: De Quaeye Werelt 1477 in het Antwerpse Rivierenhof. 1477 was een belangrijk jaar voor België en de Bourgondische Nederlanden. Na de dood van hertog Karel de Stoute, ook bekend als  Charles Le Téméraire,  in de slag bij Nancy, erfde zijn dochter Maria van Bourgondië het hertogdom. Collab - The Page 1 Project

Elke week tussen Samhain 2025 en Ostara 2026 werd er van minstens één boek de eerste pagina voorgelezen door een baardige fotograaf en de video daarvan werd op Tiktok ( en soms ook op Instagram ) gepost. Dit was een oefening om me te leren om mijn eigen stem terug te aanvaarden na een halve eeuw van trauma.  Nee, het trauma is uiteraard niet overwonnen, maar het heeft nu zijn plaats gekregen in de grote rugzak en dat is minstens even belangrijk.         Dit waren de 27 gekozen boeken: ▶️01. Have you checked my FB-page or Flickr recently? It has been a while since the last upload of images & more importantly: since the last event/shoot. Busy times at work & I started looking for a new place to call home. Today a few images of the huge 2019-backcatalogue have been added to Flickr , together with the very first 2020 pictures. Collab - Animating the Imperial Guard (The AI dilemma)

Last Thursday the tiny dirt road I needed to take was blocked by a concrete barricade. I cursed ( several times ) and then I thought: " That's actually a cool barricade for a Warhammer 40k shoot. " So I got out of the car, took a picture and had an even worse idea. It took 2 old urbex pictures from back in 2016 and the new concrete slab cellphone photo plus some Photoshop compositing magic to let Firefly AI finalize this composition into the kind of Space Hulk tunnel I wanted. Then I combined 2 stills from @Kyden_cosplay 's props + Cadian commissar cosplay ( made during @GeekVillagebelgium + @GeeksandFreaksnl ) and noticed I had not photographed his legs, so I added the lower part from a macrophoto of a commissar-miniature I had shot during Trolls-et-Légendes ( Sorry, don't know who painted it ). The magic of Photoshop, Luminar Neo and Firefly got me the character and heroic pose I wanted. Then I had Photoshop combine, relight & harmonize both comp...

Event - Geeks & Freaks (2026)

Okay-okay . It might be a last minute announcement, but #theRed360 will be present at Geeks & Freaks II in Maastricht (31st of January + 1st of Februay) And YES, a spin on #theRED360 of Deep Red Noise vzw will be FREE/GRATIS/GRATUIT  thanks to the fair organizers. So come visit our tiny corner of the MECC in Maastricht, and if the booth has enough room, I - Red Cathedral - might even make some cosplay portraits again. If you can & want to donate 1€ for your 360°-spin, that money will be used to help local stray cats. Last edition's donations helped with food, a castration, treating a hurt paw and finding a kitten a safe home.. and bonus: one stray entered my bedroom on a tuesday and simply decided to become a house cat. The following day was a Wednesday so I named him:  W..W.. Whisky ! ( Nobody should name a cat after an Addams-family member.. ) Since this is a placeholder for the event, give me a few days after the event to gather my thoughts about this edit...

Event - Fantasyfest Rijswijk (2026)

Let me be clear about something: Fantasy Fest is a fantasy themed indoor market featuring some amazing concerts. And the concerts were exactely the reason for travelling on a Saturday to Rijswijk:  Kelten Zonder Grenzen at the opening and Ye Banished Privateers after closing. Just perfect! Obviously there was time in between for a grand tour to visit the neverending rows of stalls ( saying hi to vendors & artists! ), for some mead & for a break to play a TTRPG-demo at Dutch20 . Roleplaying as cats was a nice experience thanks to the DM. Photographing cosplayers? Nah , only a handful. Once you've been there, you know about the lighting situation in De Broodfabriek, eventhough the lights on the stalls are a pretty sight, the rest is Deep Darkness .
