Satoshi Kon: overleden grootmeester van de Japanse anime De Japanse filmmaker en comicbook-tekenaar Satoshi Kon werd gelauwerd omdat hij menselijke verhalen aan verbluffende visuele composities koppelde. Niet zelden verwerkte hij traditionele elementen van de anime in zijn films - robotten met menselijke emoties, futuristische stadstableau's en een fascinatie voor de creatieve en destructieve kracht van technologie. Maar hij weefde ook literaire, artistieke en cinematografische elementen in zijn oeuvre die de hedendaagse Japanse popcultuur overstijgen. Dat leverde indrukwekkende animatiefilms op die eerder voor een volwassen- dan wel voor een kinderpubliek bestemd zijn. Dinsdagvoormiddag stierf Kon aan pancreaskanker in Tokyo.
