Anime for Sengoku Basara (Devil Kings) confirmed for 2009
The game developer CAPCOM has confirmed at Tokyo Game Show 2008 and on its website on Thursday that its Sengoku Basara (Devil Kings) action-adventure game franchise is getting adapted into a 2009 television anime series by Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell, The Sky Crawlers). Hiroyuki Kobayashi, the games' supervisor at CAPCOM, developed an original scenario treatment specifically for the anime. Itsuro Kawasaki (Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE The Movie: Princess of the Birdcage Kingdom, Yumedamaya Kidan) is directing the anime, and Yasuyuki Muto (Persona -trinity soul-, Basilisk) is supervising the scripts. Tooru Ookubo (Blood+, Seirei no Moribito) serves as both the character designer and chief animation director. Kazuya Nakai, Souichiro Hoshi, and Norio Wakamoto will reprise their game roles as the Warring States Period figures Date Masamune, Sanada Yukimura, and Oda Nobunaga, respectively.
