Old skool RPG-miniaturen

"Otherworld Miniatures produces a small but rapidly expanding range of fantasy 28mm miniatures for 'old school' roleplayers and wargamers," writes Richard Scott. "Our figures are inspired by the iconic imagery of the early roleplaying games, and cast in both pewter and resin.
Our current ranges include Demons & Devils, Pig-faced Orcs and Giants, with a Dungeon Monsters range soon to include Bugbears, Gargoyles and Trolls. Our future plans include Hobgoblins, Lizardmen, Gnolls, Ogres, a small range of town guards and militia characters, and much more.


Our signature range of Pig-faced Orcs will soon number 25 different figures, including warriors, leaders, and an Orcwife and her brats. These figures were sculpted by the very talented Kevin Adams. Our small range of Giants (Hill, Stone, Frost and Fire) are the work of Paul Muller."

Event - De Quaeye Werelt (2026)

Lang geleden dat er nog een publiek genre-evenement werd gedaan.  Ben druk bezig geweest aan nieuwe webpagina's voor Deep Red Noise vzw en Red Cathedral en tegelijk volop plannen aan het uitwerken voor een niche winkelproject genaamd House of the Red Merlin . Wat voor soort winkel zou dat kunnen worden? Wel, als er zich nog investeerders aanbieden om de laatste 10% van het oprichtingsbedrag ( stock is helaas duurder geworden in alle branche s) aan te vullen, dan zou het er snel kunnen komen. Toch even het hoofd buiten gestoken - tussen de regenbuien door - voor een reënactors kampement dat me al jaren nauw aan het hart ligt: De Quaeye Werelt 1477 in het Antwerpse Rivierenhof. 1477 was een belangrijk jaar voor België en de Bourgondische Nederlanden. Na de dood van hertog Karel de Stoute, ook bekend als  Charles Le Téméraire,  in de slag bij Nancy, erfde zijn dochter Maria van Bourgondië het hertogdom. It was during a warm November month in the Osaka -region that I finally started appreciating Autumn and the warmth of it's colours .  This year the extreme drought is giving September the first hint of those same colours. A perfect opportunity to visit the famous Japanese garden of Hasselt and reminisce about those days in Nara with the deer strolling through the parks and streets.. except in Hasselt it weren't deer posing for the cameras but cosplayers.  Yes; this was my weekend number 5 in a row with a costume event. Collab - Verbeke Cosplay Day (2026)

Allow me to sum up a few ingredients that make several ( outdoors ) costume events very enjoyable: No rain + casual strolls through a gorgeous location + drinks with nice people + casually making a photo of a splendid or funny or catchy constume + decent food + things to do/see + musical (re)discoveries + some more wine, whisky, or mead. The annual cosplay day at the Verbeke Foundation , one of the strangest ( yet fascinating ) musea in Belgium, had yet again many of those ingredients in its recipe. Event - Fantasyfest Rijswijk (2026)

Let me be clear about something: Fantasy Fest is a fantasy themed indoor market featuring some amazing concerts. And the concerts were exactely the reason for travelling on a Saturday to Rijswijk:  Kelten Zonder Grenzen at the opening and Ye Banished Privateers after closing. Just perfect! Obviously there was time in between for a grand tour to visit the neverending rows of stalls ( saying hi to vendors & artists! ), for some mead & for a break to play a TTRPG-demo at Dutch20 . Roleplaying as cats was a nice experience thanks to the DM. Photographing cosplayers? Nah , only a handful. Once you've been there, you know about the lighting situation in De Broodfabriek, eventhough the lights on the stalls are a pretty sight, the rest is Deep Darkness . The life & death of costumes

Veel mensen lijden een grijs bestaan. Ze zijn kleurloos, onopvallend en komen nooit dichter bij het beleven van hun fantasie dan onderuitgezakt met een zak chips naar Temptation Island staren. Er bestaan echter ook groepen mensen die proberen te ontsnappen aan die alledaagse grijsheid van het bestaan en die de kleuren, actie en Schwung van het fantasiebestaan proberen te integreren in de " echte " wereld. Dit zijn de mensen die je soms in kostuums kan zien rondlopen tijdens reënactment, larp en cosplay. Het begint meer en meer een trend te worden, ook in ons eigen Belgenland. Aztek-TV zal in de volgende maanden dan ook verschillende reportages wijden aan deze buitenbeentjes. Event - Casanova Danst in Alden Biesen

Ook in 2025 organiseerde de Landcommanderij Alden Biesen een gemaskerd bal. Ditmaal stond de Soirée Masquée helemaal in het teken van Giacomo Casanova en de Rococo . Denk aan krullende pruiken, kniekousen, baljurken die bigger than life zijn en al die aandacht voor details waar de adel uit 1750 voor bekend stond. En geloof me vrij: sommige kostuums en looks waren adembenemend. Collab - The Page 1 Project

Elke week tussen Samhain 2025 en Ostara 2026 werd er van minstens één boek de eerste pagina voorgelezen door een baardige fotograaf en de video daarvan werd op Tiktok ( en soms ook op Instagram ) gepost. Dit was een oefening om me te leren om mijn eigen stem terug te aanvaarden na een halve eeuw van trauma.  Nee, het trauma is uiteraard niet overwonnen, maar het heeft nu zijn plaats gekregen in de grote rugzak en dat is minstens even belangrijk.         Dit waren de 27 gekozen boeken: ▶️01.
