Let's be really quick and dirty about this event:

▼ There was was an ice-cold wind, but most of the day it was dry,
△ Each time the sun showed itself it was wonderful and we all smiled,
△ Got a superb medieval cape that really helped against the wind,
△ Great food (including pancakes!) and too much mead to taste,
△ Überfriendly people (visitors, reenactors, larpers & vendors.. sorry, I didn't run into anyone of the organisation, nor crew)
△ Excellent location: high upon the ramparts of the old city,
△ Parked by accident right behind the corner of the event,
△ Free parking, free toilets, and a fountain that will be useful during a future hot edition,
△ Music by Skayrish, cannon fire, birds of prey, throwing things (a bad combination with mead),..
△ A fun afternoon eventhough it was tiny.

Waar de meesten enkele jaren geleden nog dachten dat de LGBTQIA+ gemeenschap eindelijk de rechten hadden gekregen waar alle mensen recht op hebben, Prides hun protest-aspect niet langer nodig zouden hebben en op termijn konden vervellen tot een feest waar straight en minder straight mekaar kunnen ontmoeten, is de situatie ondertussen erg veranderd. Dit weekend, op zaterdag 28 juni 2025, trokken bijna 200.000 LGBTQIA+-personen, hun Allies en iedereen die geeft om democratische burgerrechten door de straten van Boedapest ondanks een verbod van de hoogste politieke leider, ondanks de strenge straffen die hen te wachten stonden. Overal ter wereld draaien autocratische leiders de rechten van hun burgers terug en de LGBTQIA+-groep lijdt hier enorm onder. In plaats van er enkel verdrietig om te zijn en zich erbij neer te leggen, is de gemeenschap strijdvaardig om niet enkel haar rechten, maar de rechten van alle burgers te verdedigen. Event - Castlefest (2025)

There was an anomaly in the time-space continuum during Castlefest . We arrived -on Sunday- earlier than usual. Didn't do anything unusual. Only danced to the concert of SeeD. Drank less mead than normal. Yet still we did not manage to see the entire fair in a day. So the fabric of time must have torn or folded in some strange way, causing it to slip uncontrollably through our fingers. Even stranger: it only started raining at the moment we reached the car. That's simply uncanny!  What witchcraft have you used Castlefestians? Teach me ! My only witchcraft comes out of some soulsnatching boxes dangling by my sides.  And if you want to see the results you'll have to be patient. CLEVELAND (USA) A new dinosaur species was a plant-eater with yard-long horns over itseyebrows, suggesting an evolutionary middle step between older dinosaurs with evenlarger horns and the small-horned creatures that followed, experts said. The dinosaur's horns, thick as a human arm, are like those of triceratops — which came 10 million years later. However, this animal belonged to a subfamily that usually had bony nubbins a few inches long above their eyes. Michael Ryan, curator of vertebrate paleontology for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, published the discovery in this month's Journal of Paleontology. He dug up the fossil six years ago in southern Alberta, Canada, while a graduate student for the University of Calgary. The Crocodile emperor

It is our great honor to announce the arrival of his esteemed highness, the Emperor of 3D Gaming, Emperor Augustus FitzPatricus. Easily displeased by acts of folly, failed "Rout Saves", and fumbled "To-hit" rolls, countless gladiator miniatures have been sent to their doom by the heartless waggle of his thumb. This miniature was sculpted by Chris FitzPatrick way back in 2001, as a part of the first Visions in Putty sculpting project, hosted by the 1listsculpting forum. The theme was gladiators, as the movie bearing that same name had just been released in theaters and was fresh in everyone's minds. A few dozen sculptors, both amateur and professional, conspired to each sculpt a miniature on this theme and on the final date all the miniatures were revealed and the artists discussed the details of how they made their creation. Event - O-Parade Genk (2025)

Just a thursday afternoon. 28° Celcius. A magnificent blue sky with a burning sun. Delicious white wine. Music and DJ's on almost every corner of the streets. 120.000 people in the streets. 50.000 of those wanting to witness the magic of the O-Parade.  This must be Genk on May 1st.. national labour day.. and a national holiday in Belgium so we all refuse to work. ( Sorry Dutchies but that's how it's done! ) And magic there was in the streets. A dragonrider, robots, dire wolves, steampunks, creatures that make you look twice,.. you'd  better check the gallery below to see them all. It was epic! It reveals the background story of Stranger and its characters, what they are and what will become of them and the world they live in. The next pages will be released during this week for further insight into the compound and original story. Meet one of the main heroes: Steiger . The crossbowman saves a seer from sure death and is rewarded with an insight into his bizarre future. It is foretold that Steiger will fight hordes of monsters in a world beyond that of his origin. Resultaten Aztek-TV tekenwedstrijd

Jullie stemmen zijn geteld. Waar de plaatsen 1 en 2 snel duidelijk waren, bezorgde de 3e plaats ons heel veel hoofdpijn. Maar liefst 4 tekeningen kregen precies evenveel punten. De redactie besloot om na te kijken hoeveel personen een stem hadden uitgebracht voor elke tekening. De uiteindelijke laureaat kreeg 166 voorkeurstemmen achter zijn naam, net iets meer dan de anderen. Miss Aztek-TV 2007 is geworden: nr. 13 Battle Rituals door Lacus De eredames zijn geworden: nr. 20 Azteekse krijgster door Syllie nr. 22 Jaguar warrior door Kocas Proficiat! Zij krijgen hun geschenkpakketten van Siemens Mobile en Dutch Filmworks spoedig thuisgestuurd. Gelukkig zijn er enkel winnaars bij Aztek-TV ! Alle andere kunstenaars worden voor hun prachtige werken beloond met ofwel een DVD van Dutch Filmworks , of een jaarabonnement op Aniway -magazine. Event - Internationale carnavalsstoet Hasselt

Yes, I know: I had promised to cover only one carnaval's parade per year. But I have a great excuse: a brandnew camera fell into my lap to experiment with and I needed an event for testing. So no, it was neither the free booze, nor the happy people, nor the smoutebollen that lured me to Hasselt.. those are simply perks of working . Just to be clear: that Sony A9III is a magnificent camera with crazy specs. I will probably consider buying the 2nd or 3rd generation of its Global Shutter sensor technology, but for now it's great but not needed for what I shoot. Sports and wildlife shooters are the intended targets and they'll enjoy it greatly.  Hasselt carnaval has a very enjoyable parade wth several international participants & loads of confetti. The 2024 parcours had some very long, straight streets.. perfect to test a huge 300mm f2.8-lens.
