Collab - D'Ursel cosplay day (2024)

Eventhough many September days in 2024 feel more like November days, on Sunday the 15th it was good to be outside. Outside in the park of castle d'Ursel in Hingene the infamous Geert had gathered yet again a mass of cosplayers & photogs and as always I had hidden my set, this time behind an old wall. No line of sight onto the castle, but perfect for " Cosplayers with natural light " & some " Extreme shoot through ". Why not use the castle as a backdrop, you might ask?  It's a pretty castle, yes. It has one really interesting side, alas it was too crowded to build a set & get a constant, uninterupted view. On a quiet day I'll gladly combine the front of the castle with an epoque gown.. but that Sunday was NOT a quiet day. Event - Geek Village Genk (2024)

A heads-up: on November 17th 2024 we'll be hosting a videobooth on Geek Village ( Thor Central, Genk ) in room 12 ( named Trovao ). It will be the 1st time we put the 360° videobooth on a fair.. so it's somewhere between in between scary & exciting. Since it's the 1st time and we have a full room at our disposal, we might set up a small photobooth aswel as a free bonus for our clients. Come visit us! Collab - Verbeke Foundation cosplay day 2024

A few weeks ahead of the first cosplay shoot day of 2024 in the Verbeke Foundation I had wisely estimated that I would run into & make pictures of 10% of all cosplayers. That was a gross misestimation.. I think it's closer to 5%. Every edition organizer Geert seems to double the number of participants. I still don't know how he manages, but kudos for gathering somewhere around 240 participants. Op de laatste Games Day in Frankrijk heeft de reputatie van de Belgische miniaturenschilders een stevige knauw gekregen en dat ondanks de vele prijswinnaars die ons kleine landje reeds heeft voortgebracht (ref de Aztek-TV reportages over de Painting Crusade). De Belgian Dogs of War zijn vastbesloten om deze vernedering te wreken en roept daarom alle Belgische schilders van Games Workshop-miniaturen & alle dioramamakers op om hun mooiste stukken mee te laten strijden voor de Golden Demon tijdens de Games Day op 5 augustus 2007 in het Duitse Keulen. First of all we only spent a few hours of Saturday afternoon on the fair. It's Maanrock and the combination of a crazy CFX-concert and the Versuz-stage on Friday made SaturDAY a bit shorter than expected. But this fair also coincided with the gigantic Gamescom & the always highly anticipated Viencon. Cosplayers had so much to chose from. Secondly I had said almost 10 years ago that I was tired of indoor anime mega-shopping-cons and had thus stopped visiting the likes of FACTS, MiA,.. until evil friends managed to convince me otherwise.  . Warhammer Online - Age of Reckoning

War is coming , kondigde Mark Jacobs de CEO van Mythic Entertainment vandaag aan. En wat voor een oorlog! We kennen Mythic als de ontwikkelaars van het fantasy MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot , al jarenlang een absoluut succesverhaal onder de Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games . Voor deze nieuwe fantasy MMORPG Warhammer - Age of Reckoning (WAR) sloeg Mythic de handen in elkaar met Games Workshop. Hordes, de wilde tweelingbroer van Warmachine.

De Iron Kingdoms zijn nog gevaarlijker geworden. Privateer Press heeft besloten om de monsters die normaal ver weg door de wildernis zwerven te laten samenbrengen tot een onstopbare horde Warbeasts onder de controle van machtige Warlocks . Voor deze nieuwe skirmish wargame heeft Privateer Press gekozen voor een vrij traditionele fantasy-setting. In tegenstelling tot hun bekende Warmachine zijn er hier geen door magie tot leven gewekte mecha’s die voor dood en vernieling zorgen, maar wel titanische trollen met vlijmscherpe slagtanden en met bijlen zwaaiende wolfmensen. Wie de Mechamagische Steampunk-achtergrond van Warmachine niet echt kon pruimen, maar zich perfect kon vinden in de spelregels en kleinschalige schermutselingen, wordt op zijn wenken bediend. Ook al is Hordes een stand-alone spel, de basisregels lopen behoorlijk parallel met die van Warmachine, wat maakt dat als je de ene kent, eveneens de ander kan spelen. Japan, het is een wereld die we als Westerlingen nooit zullen vatten. We lezen massaal de manga’s en de hentai. We kijken naar de anime. We worden overweldigd door de films die zich wentelen in extreem geweld, ongrijpbare horror en magistrale, epische schoonheid. Takashi Miike, Hideo Nakata en Akira Kurosawa. Het is een wereld waarvan we enkel het oppervlak kunnen aanraken, het onderhuidse heeft echter iets onbevattelijks voor ons Westerlingen.
