Join Belgium's most beautiful costumed summer ball!
This year for the 2nd time on a fantastic location, the Poeke castle near Aalter, Belgium.

Historical dance workshops, heavenly music, special drinks, absinthe bar,
fairy cupcakes and, above all, magnificently dressed visitors from all over Europe.
Be part of this extaordinary evening and pass the doors to a unique and magical world!

Keep in mind that there is a dress code, but don't let this scare you! For inspiration you can take a look at costumes from movies like Marie Antoinette, The Duchess, Casanova,
Dangerous Liaisons, etc. You can also let our moodboard at http://www.viona-art.com/sarabande/dress-code guide you.
We try to encourage our guests to wear historically inspired costumes, but you are more than welcome in formal evening wear as well.

Programme

Historical dance lessons by Lieven Baert, historical court dance specialist,
famous choreographer and guest professor at multiple dance universities worldwide!

Official opening of the ball with music by our neo-romantic DJ.

Event - Geek Village Genk (2024)

A heads-up: on November 17th 2024 we'll be hosting a videobooth on Geek Village ( Thor Central, Genk ) in room 12 ( named Trovao ). Collab - Verbeke Foundation cosplay day 2024

A few weeks ahead of the first cosplay shoot day of 2024 in the Verbeke Foundation I had wisely estimated that I would run into & make pictures of 10% of all cosplayers. That was a gross misestimation.. I think it's closer to 5%. Every edition organizer Geert seems to double the number of participants. I still don't know how he manages, but kudos for gathering somewhere around 240 participants. Elftopia is the only outdoors fantasy Summer event aka Renaissance fair in Flanders. Every year I say: " This was my last visit to Elftopia ." Event - Les fêtes médiévales de Binche (2024)

Let's be really quick and dirty about this event: ▼ There was was an ice-cold wind, but most of the day it was dry, △ Each time the sun showed itself it was wonderful and we all smiled, △ Got a superb medieval cape that really helped against the wind, △ Great food ( including pancakes! ) and too much mead to taste, △ Überfriendly people ( visitors, reenactors, larpers & vendors.. sorry, I didn't run into anyone of the organisation, n or crew ) △ Excellent location: high upon the ramparts of the old city, △ Parked by accident right behind the corner of the event, △ Free parking, free toilets, and a fountain that will be useful during a future hot edition , △ Music by Skayrish , cannon fire, birds of prey, throwing things ( a bad combination with mead ),.. △ A fun afternoon eventhough it was tiny. . .   Let's provide you a few links: ▷ All photos can always be found on/downloaded from my Flickr and here ! ▷ A " How to download stills from Flickr &

Collab - D'Ursel cosplay day (2024)

Eventhough many September days in 2024 feel more like November days, on Sunday the 15th it was good to be outside. Outside in the park of castle d'Ursel in Hingene the infamous Geert had gathered yet again a mass of cosplayers & photogs and as always I had hidden my set, this time behind an old wall. No line of sight onto the castle, but perfect for " Cosplayers with natural light " & some " Extreme shoot through ". Why not use the castle as a backdrop, you might ask?  It's a pretty castle, yes. It has one really interesting side, alas it was too crowded to build a set & get a constant, uninterupted view. On a quiet day I'll gladly combine the front of the castle with an epoque gown.. but that Sunday was NOT a quiet day. Games Day Keulen

Op de laatste Games Day in Frankrijk heeft de reputatie van de Belgische miniaturenschilders een stevige knauw gekregen en dat ondanks de vele prijswinnaars die ons kleine landje reeds heeft voortgebracht (ref de Aztek-TV reportages over de Painting Crusade). De Belgian Dogs of War zijn vastbesloten om deze vernedering te wreken en roept daarom alle Belgische schilders van Games Workshop-miniaturen & alle dioramamakers op om hun mooiste stukken mee te laten strijden voor de Golden Demon tijdens de Games Day op 5 augustus 2007 in het Duitse Keulen. First of all we only spent a few hours of Saturday afternoon on the fair. It's Maanrock and the combination of a crazy CFX-concert and the Versuz-stage on Friday made SaturDAY a bit shorter than expected. But this fair also coincided with the gigantic Gamescom & the always highly anticipated Viencon. Cosplayers had so much to chose from. Secondly I had said almost 10 years ago that I was tired of indoor anime mega-shopping-cons and had thus stopped visiting the likes of FACTS, MiA,.. until evil friends managed to convince me otherwise.  .
